Difference between a frequency converter and frequency translator

One of them demodulates an incoming signal and remodulates it on another frequency. The other does not. It combines an incoming modulated signal with another carrier and produces outputs at the sum and the difference frequencies of the two inputs.

It is almost a distinction without a difference.
