# dicharging capacitor through resistor

hello all i want to know that how to discharge capacitor through resistor what is the formula that i use to discharge a capacitor

AAC (this forum) also has tutorials on this stuff .
And if you are looking for a practical answer .... You just connect any capacitor thorough a 100ohm resistor and it will discharge safely

The value of resistor determines how fast the capacitor discharges. The RC time-constant (R x C) is the time it takes to discharge to about 37% of its previous value. In 5 time-constants it will discharge to less than 1% of the previous value.

That link only seems to have the charge equation. Here's the discharge equation:

$v=v_{init} (e^{\frac{-t}{RC}})$
