    Hello,
I have a strange problem. I've just got a phone working from the helpful people on this forum http://forum.allaboutcircuits.com/showthread.php?t=81409

However, during testing I have been using a small VOIP box from Vonage to see if the phone has been working - basically listening for the dial tone and dialing in to see if the Mic and Ear set work - pulse dialing doesnt work on the box so I couldnt test this.

However, today I decided that I should give it a go on my BT (UK) telephone line, see if I can dial out with it. Plugged it in, and no dial tone. Plugged my usual phone in, and dial tone.

Any ideas on what I should look for? I tried it again on the VOIP box, just to see if it still works, and sure enough, I got a dial tone.

As always, and and all help very much thankful. If you need any more info, give me a shout and I'll try and provide what I can!

Figured it out. I was using the inner two wires of the bt phone jack instead of the outer two.

Turns out my voip box can handle it.
