My Di-Log DL 293 general purpose multimeter has suffered an overvoltage event which has resulted in the top half of U2 being blown off so I can read the type number.

U2 is an 8 pin SMD device.

    Any ideas?

An op amp, at a guess.

Yes I wondered if it was either an input op amp or a 555 clock since it is next to an smd 4011 and the meter is autoranging.

Any suggestions for a replacement op amp?

Unless pin 1 goes to ground and 8 to Vcc, a 555 isn't likely.

I have yet to get any, but the specs on the OPA1641 are pretty amazing. Got every thing that Uncle John needs (sorry, too much Little Richard today).
