deriving telegrapher's equation is phasor form

    Hello all,

    I have a question on deriving telegrapher's equation in phasor form.
    Below is derivation I found on one of microwave circuits class notes.

    Final form of telegrapher's equation after canceling e^(j*omega) is

    How is Re{complex #1}=Re{complex #2}+Re{complex #3} equal to (complex #1)=(complex #2)+(complex #3)?
    What property of Re{} allows me to remove theoperator?
