Delayed Ground Circuit

I think the relay should be a double pole one if both contacts need "contact closure to ground" (according to the documentation).

Maybe, but I'd feel a lot better if I were permitted to see the documentation rather than rely on an "ME struggling with EE stuff". This might be an input to a PLC, or some CNC hardware. Make and model would help.

Taking the the output to ground essentially dumps memory. It isn't input to a PLC or CNC hardware. You mentioned a small logic error?

Wired it like your diagram (my change was based on the wrong Schmitt Trigger). Still no luck. When the switch is opened, there is no delay. Outputs immediately ground. The good is that when power is removed, the outputs ground (relay works).
What is the 33uf cap from 12V to ground that is floating on the right hand side?

Bad Schmitt Trigger... Now the initial delay seems to work, but the reset doesn't work like what I am expecting.
