How to construct a 5 bit decoder from 3 to 8 decoder?
i have designed 3 to 8 decoder but don't know how to convert it into 5x32 decoder.

this isn't a homework question, i have found this question in the past examination papers of university so i've decided to solve it, i have already designed an 3x8 decoder and now i need to convert it into 5 bit decoder, but i have no idea how to do it.

first of all i have drawn a truth table for the 3x8 decoder and wrote equations and then implemented those equations.

 

well, here is one solution.. suppose you need to decode a 5bit data ABCDE, then you can use the following attachment. Well, its just a schematic.. the diagram is not proper, but i guess it will be sufficient for you to understand. I made it in a hurry.

P.S. The enable 'EN' pins of the decoders are used as a means of selection.
