Hello everyone

I need to make a dc to dc converter. I ve an input 650V dc and want to convert to 28V dc. The max power is 850W. Any idea or if it may be difficult any website that can sell this kind of product?

Thank you

Back in '50s used rotary convertors to change 14V DC to 350 V DC, prob. around 300W. Now to find a 1.5 kW, 300V DC motor.

Alternatively you could try a controlled rectifier charging a bank of auto batteries from the HV, and take your output from the batteries.

I have been looking with out much sucess for high V input, 300 to 350 V DC & 14 V out @ 1 kW.
240v AC mains (like here in Australia) rectifies to 300-350v DC.

So any off the shelf 1kW SMPS rated for 240v AC mains input should work fine. They all rectify the 240v AC to 350v DC internally (before the SMPS part). :)

we use several smps here with 480 vac input, 3 phase. and a 28 volt output at 30 to 40 amps dc. sola is one mfgr.
you can run dc into a smps rated for ac input, just keep it within voltage ratings, the input bridge rectifier will pass dc just like it was rectifying ac.
