hi dear all,

hope u r all fine. i am in a site and facing a problem so i need some help as i received early from u ppl. that was really very much helpfull for me.
actually we have installed 2 system one is active and load will get the power from active system. and second is redundant system. when active system will fail to provide the power to the load then redundant system will take over the resposibility of the active system. so i need a diode based power distribution unit which would work between these two systems. PDU detect the systems power and switch the power from active to redundant or redundant to active in case of power failure of any one system. do you ppl have any idea about the PDU which is diode based and work as per the mentioned desired.

thanks

Do you mean by "diode based" something like in the picture?

(anode from the inputs, cathode to the output)

1. you'll have to find diodes with a rating > 330A continuous current
2. this only works if the redundant power source had a voltage a bit smaller than the active source

What you really need would be an a static switch, measuring the input voltages and switching the sources with SCR, MOSFETs or IGBTs.

Why does it have to be diode based?
