I have a 6 Volt or 12 Volt DC motor.

I want to control the speed of this motor based on the music.

Higher the beats ... faster the speed
slow music ... slow speed
no sound .. motor stops

The music is from ipod speakers.

What is the best way to do this?

For AC it can be done using solid state relays.

is it possible using 555 timer PWM circuits?
