DATA TRANSMISSION DEVICES ?

can someone give me an example of 2 different forms of data transmission devices and explain the difference between the two ?

cause im seriously confused with this.

Modem - Modulator/Demodulator. Can describe almost any data connection device, but old school was a phone unit.
