I am new to the RF testing world and I am trying to understand the difference between "Mod On" and "Mod Off" (aka CW Mode) as it applies to setting up an HP signal generator. Can someone provide a short and brief explanation? Thanks in advance, AMPINA

Not that I own one of those, but I'd say the signal generator thinks of itself as a simple sine wave generator that you would call a carrier frequency. Modulation on would mean adding a change to the carrier to make it frequency modulation or amplitude modulation.

I agree. An odd way to look at it is that, in radio communication, the signal is "noise" introduced on purpose to distort the otherwise perfect carrier wave "signal".
