Hi can anyone help me in the right direction, were to start by , by building my own alternating current power supply that works in the ranges from 1-12 volt input and 400hz to 10Khz frequecy. Its for a resolver that uses 2 volts and 4000 hz... Is it possible to use a 12v dc 50-60 hz supply and take the rectifier out..how do i boost the frequency..

It's my understanding that a resolver is basically a measuring device for rotation. What are you trying to do? Supplying a resolver with a voltage and frequency would I think destroy the resolver.

To answer the power supply question, what your looking for is called a frequency or signal generator. Here is a link to one in kit form. To design and build one from scratch and debug it would probably cost quite a bit more than the kit.

Will you be exciting the rotor (single phase) or the stator (2 phase quadrature)?
Or do you have a 3 phase resolver (syncro)?
