Hi Guys

I want to design a low side current sense circuit, it can sense 1mA to 5Amps, with a resolution of 1mA in the range of 1mA to 100mA.

Is it practical to design that with a lm358?

the output will feed to an ADC of a MCU.

 

One word, maybe. Please post the schematic of the proposed measuring circuit.

 

Very doubtful this device would work for you, tough I may be surprised when I see your schematic.

You would have a much better chance if you stick to op amps designed in the current century. The LM358 is pushing 40 years old.

 

By the sound of it, lm358 is no good. So will my following circuit work with a better op amp? or do I need an better circuit for this purpose?

by the way, I am just a regular guy who is interested in electronics, nothing more
