Crazy 4543 BCD Converter Issues

    This is absolutely crazy.

    I'm building a digital clock and I did proto it. However, when I built the actual board my bcd converters show numbers 4-9 corrcty, but go crazy when displaying 0-4. For example 0000 comes out as a backwards six. How is this possible?

    Who did you buy the 4543 IC's from? If they are/were not an authorized distributor, you may have some forged IC's.

    Looks like segments F and G are swapped.

    Thanks all.

    The swapped fg is the case.

    The 4543 has outputs in the order abcedgf and I thought I logically read abcdefg and designed my PCB accordingly. So much for my perfect PCB design :(

    If it's any consolation, it does look like a very nice board layout and design...
