MPLab is free from Microchip. Why not download it and compile the code yourself?

I have a Hex file in .txt format. I want to burn this into PIC microcontroller using Leaper 48 universal IC writer which requires Intel Hex. I would like to know whether this text file will work or not. If anybody out there who have previously used this product please let me know.
