hi will comparator compare ac signal wit dc signal?i need one circuit which compares ac signal wit dc ref voltage and it must produce output 1 if its voltage s higher than the ref voltage r else it must produce 0 output.

thank u

  1. Rectify and filter the AC signal first to get a DC equivilent of the peak AC value. Use resistors to scale down to an average value, or an RMS value (if the AC is a regular shape) as required.
  2. Now compare the two DC levels using a comparator.

Is the 1 and 0 logic levels? Here is a sample circuit using a comparator. The reference voltage is 0V/ GND. While the AC signal is greater than 0V/ GND the output will always be 12V. Other than that it will be 0V.
