I've been using the round COBs for a while, just wondering if any of you guys have tried/used these in a project?

The round ones seem to put out a smoother, much better, all around light, for bench work. In cool white.
Appears that these will be a lot more compact, for making strip work bench lights.

 

Since you need 5 of them to get the same brightness as a 100W incandescence bulb, do you connect then in parallel or in series?

 

They recommend hooking them up in series, but I just made one light using 4 of the round ones, in parallel, with no resistor.
It's been burning bright for several days now, no problem.
I'll add a resistor before I get everything mounted though, just to be safe.

 

series is always the best/recommended connection scheme for LED's to avoid possible thermal runaway.
