Hi. I am having problems understanding the operation of the cmos inverter from the perspective of identifying what state each transistor is in.
I don't know how it is possible to know whether for example the nmos is in cutoff, linear or saturation when the input voltage is defined in terms of the threshold of the pmos transistor as I can't make the connection. An example is the values shown in the table below. What graph or key knowledge do i need to be able to determine this?
0 ≤ Vin < Vtn, Pmos: non saturated Nmos: cutoff
Vtn ≤ Vin < VDD/2 Pmos: non saturated Nmos: saturated
Vin = VDD/2, Pmos: saturated Nmos: saturated
