Hello everyone, I've got a problem I was hoping you all could help me with. My dorm room has air conditioning, but I can't regulate it at all. I was hoping to build a box to trap the air with circuity that would open the top when a certain temperature was reached. I'm a computer science major (more programming than anything), but I have taken a digital circuits and logic class which taught the digital side of circuits (no resistors or capacitors or anything). I was hoping you all could help me plan something out. My plan so far was to have a thermostat act as a trigger (when it reaches a certain temperature, the switch inside will close a circuit). What I'm not sure of is how to power the motor and, more importantly, how to keep it powered for only as long as it takes to open the top. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Patrick
