Checking a transistor

I've got a couple of NPN power transistors I'd like to know 100% if they are working.

I've checked them by putting my DMM into diode mode, and checking from B-C, B-E with positive on the base.

I get a reading one direction and not in another, so according to videos on checking a transistor it should be a good transistor.

Is this 100% though? Does it mean my transistors are actually good?

It's a start, but not 100%. You could also check the DC gain. As for bandwidth, leakage etc you would need more than a DMM to test those.
