Ceiling fan start capacitors failure

What would make two identical ceiling fans start capacitors fail at the same time, in different rooms?

They appear to be failrly expensive Stainless Steel fans, and otherwise, they seem to be in good shape.
(Not excessivly dirty, etc.).

I'm going to repair them, but it just seemed curious that both would go in the same way, and apparently at the same time.

They were a roadside find this morning.

Thanks,
Gary

Your right, maybe too much assumption here.

But they are identical, and had the same amount of dust on top of the blades (based on my casual observation).

It could be one failed before the other, and they just left it hanging until fan # 2 went kaput.

I just wondered if a lightning strike would take them out, simultaniously?

Thanks,
Gary

May be the caps are from the same batch.
Like in TV's all the caps of the same type and size caps bulge.
Come to think of it why do they all bulge ???

Did you run it by Watson?;)

For the most part, small capacitors for AC fans are oil/paper are generally fairly rugged and do not deteriorate with age as do electrolytic's.
