I wonder how many generations of Grosbeaks and Monarchs perished before the species "evolved" to the point of being able to find their way.

I wonder how many generations of monarchs and grosbeaks will keep migrating before they realize that farming has brought all kinds of crops, nuts, seeds, flowering plants to the southern states and there is no need to migrate so far north each year. And, with the milder winters of recent years, there is little need to migrate so far south each year.
