Caps for SGTC

im getting a lot of conflicting information regarding ceramic vs polypropylene caps for a SGTC. could someone please elaborate a little more? this is my 1st TC and trying to get everything right as much as i can. im looking for reliability. i heard ceramic heats up to fast. please shed some light on this for me. also, peak voltage is 21.210kv how much tolerance should i give for reliable operation? TY!

Poly caps have a peak current rating usually specified as dV/dt. Since you know the capacitance, that lets you calculate the current. If you exceed the current rating, they will fail. Ceramics are hardier in general. I have some 3kV ceramics in my electrostatic air filter.
