Hi Guys, I am new here, and have a problem that hope I someone can help me sort...
I have a 0.25hp single phase 230v ac pump motor, the start capacitor is burned out, the details on it are not readable, but were not readable before it burned, as it was painted over by the manufacturer, so I need a guide as to what microfarad to use, that would be safe and not detrimental to the motor...

I install 1/4 HP, 230VAC motors all week with 5uf capacitors but, they are "run" capacitors and my motors "pump" air, not liquids. Anybody here do small water pumps?

Thanks for your replies, I should have mentioned it's a pool pump, it's from Desjoyaux, I found a USA PDF, for the spares, it mentions capacitors ok but I don't think they apply to the European versions. There does not appear to a European version of the spares PDF, I have been in contact with the company, but found them totally useless for supplying the info.

To make things worse I am 1500 miles from the location at the moment...
