    Hello ,

I want to ask about the power rating of ac capacitors like this one :
    http://www.elecsound-components.com/...itors/cl21.pdf

what is mentioned is only its voltage rating , why is there no mention of the power rating , how could I know that it would withstand the current that will pass through it .

    thanks

You could email the manufacturer and ask them what the ripple current rating of the capacitors is.

You could obtain a few of the values you wish to use and measure the ESR. The ESR determines the heating of the capacitor when it is carrying a current. Determining ESR by measurement doesn't give a guaranteed maximum value for ESR, but at least you will have a number to start with.

These capacitors are polyester dielectric capacitors which typically aren't very good with respect to ESR. How will they be used?
