I've found a few pages over the internet about this subject, but most weren't informative enough. So, in a nut shell, what are the pros and cons of capacitors in a series and in a parallel circuit?

 

This is an essentially meaningless question. The presence of a capacitor is dictated by the design of the circuit. Do you have some specific circuit as an illustration?
