Hello I ran across this forum and you all seem to be very knowledgable on tantalum capacitors. I have a tv that I had some problems with, repaired it and apparently I knocked off a tantalum capacitor or mems capacitor(whichever it is). The problem I have is Mitsubishi cannot or will not give me the size to replace it with. How can I figure this out?I really can not afford a new board and considering this tv is 1 month out of extended warranty I do not want and can not afford to replace it. any help would be greatly appreciated! Below is a pic of a similar board on the upper left hand location with a orange square(poor attempt for me in paint)around it is the one in question.

    Hello,

I see you removed the capacitors.
What was written on the capacitors?

    Greetings,

This is just a picture of another board like mine, my problem is the one on the upper left side of the picture with a thin orange line I drew around it.

That is the correct manual but I do not see a C5965 I do however see a
    C5A65 181P355050 C-ELEC - 50V 10M-M could this be it?

Are you thinking the C5965 is missing because of the "empty" holes?

Found this in a Sony TV manual

    C5955 1-104-664-11 ELECT 47UF 20.00%16V
    C5962 1-130-491-00 MYLAR 0.047UF 5.00% 50V
    C5963 1-107-638-11 ELECT 33UF 20.00%160V
    C5964 1-126-935-11 ELECT 470UF 20.00%10V
    C5968 1-106-383-00 MYLAR 0.047UF 10.00%200V
    C5969 1-107-949-11 ELECT 2.2UF 20.00%160V
    C5970 1-104-999-11 MYLAR 0.1UF 10.00%200V
    C5972 1-126-935-11 ELECT 470UF 20.00%16V
    C5973 1-130-491-00 MYLAR 0.047UF 5.00% 50V
    C5975 1-126-935-11 ELECT 470UF 20.00%10V

CAn you verify on your board that the number is really C5965? Its kinda hard to see in the pic. C5965 is not bringing up any caps. But I wonder if it is C5955 or C5966.

No its missing because it isn't there. The capacitor circled in yellow on the pic above(not my board)...my board is missing this part, there are remenants at the solder joints.

Yes it is C5965 on the board and Mitsubishi is definitely no help I can't understand half of what they are saying.

The reason they are asking if your know it definately missing is when they make a line of TV's say. They run all the boards the same then add extra components for each model. So they just run 1 million boards instead of 100,000 of each and populate what they ned for that model. Its actually very common to have unpopulated holes on a pcb. If their is solder reminants it probably had a cap on it.

It is missing I know that for a fact, the problem I am having is finding out what size the capacitor it is that is missing. What I am asking is how can I find the volts/mfd of the capacitor in the pic, circled in yellow?

I do not think this component is important, and I also think it is 0.01 uF 50V. But probaly any value in range of .1uF to .01uF will do

You guys are awesome! You do not know what I have been thru to find this out! On the downside this sounds like it is not what is keeping my tv from coming on. Thanks a million either way!
