capacitor curve trace

    I curve trace a 1 uf 500 V rating capacitor, a 350 V sweep voltage was applied to the 2 leads of the capacitor. An ellipse was displayed with 4 V at X axis and 125 uA at Y axis. My question is why the intercept of the ellipse is 4 V at X axis instead of 350 V. When I use heat gun heating the capacitor, the intercept of the ellipse did not change on Y axis, but gradually increased to 8 V on X axis. After I stop heating, it slowly went back to 4 V. Does this mean the dielectrics degradation and causing leakage during high temperature?

    Anyone that might help you will need more detail about your probe, circuit setup, and test protocol. A lot of what you observe may be an artifact of these factors.
