name one source of DC voltage that does not contain a rectifier?

A battery. What's the point of this apparently useless question?

Herdis, a DC generator with brushes will also provide DC without rectifiers.

PapaBravo, the purpose of Herdis' question is to obtain information. What is the purpose of your derision?

Ditto to Papabravo. Must be suffering PMS lately. There has been a few commebts like that.

Anyway, solar cell is another source of DC without rectification. Also some chemical reactions could also be considered although these may fall into the category of a battery.

I took the original post to be a challenge to name even one, suggesting that none existed. We've name three.

Have you considered that this guys english is not quite as good as it could be? And speaking of which you also should run a grammar checker.

I think there is an electrostatic analog to a DC generator! Made of lucite or hard rubber, it is the rotary version of combing your hair on a dry day, or stroking a cat's fur (assuming you can tolerate a cat.) There was an article in Scientific American back in the 2nd millenium about it.
