    This is my question:-

Using the 74LS163 4-bit counter and minimum extra logic, design a digital circuit that repeat the counting sequence 4,5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 either three times or seven times depending on the external selection input X, such that:
When X = 1 the counter counts from 4 to 12 three times.
When X = 0 the counter counts from 4 to 12 seven times.
The circuit has a RESET input which last for one clock pulse and a HOLD input. When RESET = 1, the counter restart the count as explained above; and when HOLD = 1, the counter halts and it resumes counting when HOLD is set back to 0.

its very important please please reply me ASAP

So, when is your homework due?

We do not do your homework for you, instead, once you've shown your work, we will help guide you in the right direction - without that effort, there is nothing to go on...

Well what part of this are you struggling with. Is it like my project is soon to be due. And I has done nothing yet besides panicking? As a start try to create the counter from 4 to 11

For the hold function just use a AND gate, with an inverter on the input for the hold signal. And tie the clock to the other input. Then the hold signal is 0. You will have the output following the input. But as long as the hold input is 1. The AND output will always be zero. More simple may it be if your flip-flops have some sort of enable input. This signal is often active low
Edit: I see now that you use the 74ls163 counter. Take a look at the datasheet on how to use the PE CET CEP pins

    Hello,

If you want to upload other formats than the given ones, you could zip the file or add .txt to the name and attach it.
