Hi,
I am trying to calculate the number of turns required for a PSU choke wound on n EI laminated stack.
Using the Hanna method, I need to know the magnetic path length.

How would I calculate this for an EI lamination stack. Do I use both sides and add them together or just one?

Many thanks,
John.

Hi,

The magnetic path length is usually taken to be the mean circumference of any construction.
The mean circumference is the length measured right in the middle of each leg.
So for example a square shape 3x3 on the outside and 1x1 on the inside the path length would be 2+2+2+2=8.
