Calculation of losses

    How to calculate total losses in a Switch mode power supply that is starting from Input rectifier. can anybody tel the formula for the calculation?

    The procedure will be to operate the SMPS at its rated maximum output. Careful measurement of power in will show it is greater than the power out. That difference is the loss (in watts).

    yes of course. Now the difference in wattage is more, that is losses are more. how do i find in which part of the SMPS power loss is more?

    A temperature probe might supply some insight. Real power loss is converted to heat. Probe the surface temperature of each component, chart the result and then focus on improving the efficiency of the hottest areas.
