The piezo speaker broke off of my electronic safe, and now it doesn't work. If I just wanted to bypass the speaker, is it as a simple as throwing a resistor in it's place, or would I need use a resistor and diode in series? I'm definitely not an electronics expert, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you don't need the speaker function, then you don't need to replace it at all.
