I am trying to build a RF transceiver to detect distance between cars (in order to ultimately build an automatic cruise control system). I was hoping to use ~24GHz frequency, with undetermined polarization. It would need to do pulses at ~50Hz. Power is unknown, but it would be good to be able to detect pulses returned from up to 1500 feet, if possible. I am very new to EE, but have some experience in comms from space systems design.

Does anyone have ideas for circuit diagrams for this situation?

    Thanks for your help!

The thought of a homemade automatic cruise control is a bit scary. And, as it happens, something our Terms of Service prevents us from discussing -
