Building jacobs ladder?

    im wanting to builda jacobs ladder. ikno w can use a neon sigh transformer , or a mircrowave, tv, oil burner but since its might be hard to get a hold of one of those re there any other options? what about the ballast form a flourescent light?i have no ideo if that would work at all but i was asking cuase i happen to have a few of them around. thnx in advance

    well my knowlege is limited, but i remember being told that a ballast wont work, some thing about not putting out enough volts/amps. as far as the microwave goes, the magnitron tube takes alot to power to do its thing, so it might work. just becareful taking it apart, i remember something about residual radiation.
