    hi everyone,

is it possible to control the speed of a brushless dc motor using picaxe40X2? if yes, how do i deal with the hall sensor commutation?

If the motor already has built-in electronics for commutation and speed control, like most small cooling fans do now...I'm pretty sure you can't.

You could try using PWM then a low pass filter to smooth that out.
A straight PWM signal will just cause it to stall/not start/just oscillate back and forth,etc..
