Hi,

I'm hoping someone can help one way or another with this. I've an exam next week which has some Boolean in it. I've got some past papers with answers from the tutor but his answers don't agree with mine.

They involve simplifying the following:
=_= _ _ _
i X = A+B.C Tutor has (A+B)+C I get A.B.C
__= ___ _ _ _
ii Y = A.B + B.C.A Tutor says A+C I get A + B
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
iii Z = A + A.B.C + A.B.C + A.B.C T = B + A.C I get A + B

If I'm wrong can someone explain why as I can't see it?

Can anyone tell me how to stop all the _ and = going to the left. Not much help otherwise!

 

It's easier to use the A' format to indicate negation, rather than the bar.

Download the program at http://forum.allaboutcircuits.com/showthread.php?t=22347 to help you with your exercises. It will give you all the minterms of your Boolean expression. A Karnaugh map can then easily simplify the expression. Ask if you have any problems. Ratch
