The second diagram is captioned:

"Small electron base current controls large collector electron current flowing against emitter arrow"

While I guess technically correct, it seems more likely was intended to have this wording:

"Small emitter base current controls large collector emitter current flowing against emitter arrow"

Maybe not?

 

You are probably correct. Maybe throw in a dash for extra clarity:

"Small Base-Emitter current controls large Collector-Emitter current flowing against emitter arrow"
