This is just a quick question. So if I set up a binary ripple counter using JK flip flops, and if I use a high frequency for the clock (i.e. 60 Hz), can i use it as a random number generator??

For example, I could use a button to turn on the 60Hz clock, while simultaneously turning on another jk flipflop(for storing purposes) in series with the ripple counter, will I be able to choose a random number based on how long I was holding down the button and since it would go so quickly, it would become very unpredictable?

The randomness comes from how long you hold down the button. There are plenty of designs for electronic dice that use this principal. Best to use a higher frequency oscillator rather than 60Hz.
