Im making my own bike to bike intercom system as my wife and I ride together. I have purchased two uniden uho78sx 2 way radio units, these sets come complete with a speaker mic unit, which Im modifing to make a helmet headset and mic with a push to talk (ptt) button on the handle bars.

I have removed all the components in the speaker mic unit and wired them to suit our helmets and ptt button on the handle bars. It looks great and very professionally done.

Q : Im getting feedback through the systems at close range, how do I eliminate the feed back ?

Turn down the volume or move further away.
Noise cancelling mics may help a little.
Attenuating the mics would help, but you would have to speak louder to get the message across.
