Hi All,

If I have a digital input line going to a microcontroller that I'd like to take out to a terminal for hooking up an external signal, what extra circuitry is it good to add to prevent voltage spikes etc. coming in on that signal and damaging the CPU.

Thanks

Hello,

An other option is the use of optocouplers.
Optocouplers can make a safe barrier between the "bad" world and the MCU.
It is also possible to seperate powers with them.
