Battery repack 18 volt 3Ah to 6Ah

I have a dead AEG 18 volt 3Ah Li-ion battery and I wish to repack with larger cells.The original cells are 18650 1500mah x10 .Is it as simple as buying 3Ah batteries or will the circuit protection /charge board need to be replaced as well ?

If the base load and recharging power stay the same then the original charge balancing circuits should work just fine with the larger battery capacity.
