If your 9V battery connection is too short for the power supply, why not try the following and kill your project.
You won't need to power it up anymore.

 

I think he's referring to the fact that if you connect two 9V connectors together as shown, the polarity is inverted due to the way the connectors work and if you connect the red to plus on the power supply, the polarity at the circuit will be plus to black and will likely zap the circuit.
