I got thinking.. Let's suppose you had to power a 6v bulb. but all you have is AA batteries.
In Series AA+AA+AA+AA = 1.5+1.5+1.5+1.5 = 6v let's say button cells of 150ma
Now the 1 AA you place in the tube has a resistor to each of the 1.5 150ma cells which supply 100ma current, the AA would deliver 100ma of current to 4 button cells which supply current to an Bulb of 100ma@6v.
Would that not be almost 100% efficiency providing the button cells do not degrade.
