    Hello,

I need to build a simple square wave oscillator for my assignment. I want a square wave and I want to sweep through frequencies using some kind of knob .(If it doesn't complicate things too much.) I don't know my options as the output but a mini speaker would be awesome. I'd be glad if you can share some schematics and list what I need.

    Best Regards,
    Luc.

Thanks for the links. However I'm not that good with schematics so I couldn't make much of it. Can anyone suggest me a site that describes the application? What i need is really basic, I have a 555 timer chip, resistors, capacitors, potentiometers and 10V speaker. I need to oscillate a square wave and sweep with the pot..
    Thanks in advance..

if its not already too late (but its never to late to learn ha) here is a great page on 555 timer. U need to connect pin4 to 5v (pin8) in order for things to run smooth. Sometimes thats overlooked in tutorials.
    Look at astable mode
