the problem is how to reverse the motor and add an on off switch

 

This sounds like a homework assignment by a teacher or professor. Is it?

You need to insert a motor control relay. ON power up, the DC motor opens the curtain. When you are ready to close, you simply reverse the polarity on the motor leads to get the motor running the opposite way. You can do this by a separate switch that controls the motor relay, or have the unit shut itself down after the curtain reaches the fully closed position.

How do you know when the curtain reaches the fully open or closed position? You need to have an open (and closed) limit switch in your circuit.
