Hey guys luv the forum. Got a question for a school project.

I need to make a small audio switching device that will take two inputs from an audio source. Let's say ipod A and ipod B. They both plug into a y adapter and then there's one output for headphones. Now I would like ipod B music to come threw but when ipod A comes on I would like that one to take priority switch to that audio then when that's done go back to ipod B.

I've done some figuring but need some help on the circuitry

What have you developped so far?

There are CMOS audio switch ICs you could use if you don't want it to be with discret components. It also can be done with small signal relays, but I guess the bouncing could be a problem.
Then there also needs to be circuit that detects the audio level on the non-priority source to determine the moment when to to pass to the other source.

What do you have so far?

Are they actually ipods, so that you could use the pins on the docking connector to detect the connection, or do you want this done wtih the standard 1/8" jacks?
