applying user name and password for a website !

    hey all ,
    i have a small inquiry regarding a website !
    how could i apply my username and password of my website !
    lets say that i would make some change to my website !
    so how i could apply my user name and pass in order to adjust my website !
    im using internet explorer as a websurfer
    so plz could anyone discribe me in details how i could make this step !

    It strongly varies with the webserver Operating System and Webserver software.

    Google ".htaccess", with the leading period for protecting a single page.

    PHP/Active site (like this forum) is another option, there are quite a few free CMS around (Content Management Systems), such as Joomla.

    If using anything involving Microsoft, then it is generally more difficult.

    yea bro ! but is my website is already registered lets say with (for example: www.????.com)
    and the user name and password are in my possession ! so the question is
    how i could adjust my website ?? thru front page for example ??

    In my experience the service provider of your url www.????.com also provided you with a FTP access to ftp.????.com. When you access this
    ftp server ( ftp.????.com) it will ask for a username and password.

    Ones these have been supplied, you can then upload your web pages
    to the httpdocs folder on your (ftp.????.com) server.

    Ones you have uploaded your webpages and you go to www.????.com
    you should see your pages.
