Hi all,
I would like to measure the speed of a motor using a hall sensor which should give an analog output (sine wave).

I would like to know where can i get this information?

what is the difference between a square wave output and a sine wave output from a hall sensor?

Does it have to be sinewave? I know that for many positioning systems sinewave is preferred than squarewave to increase the resolutions, but I can't think of any reason why sinewave is required only for speed measurement.

The difference at the output is just that, sinewave and squarewave. The sensor systems, however, are significantly different and thus also the price. Sinewave output needs linear Hall sensor and special arrangement of magnetic (excitation) unit. Squarewave, on the other hand, needs only a simple magnetic unit and only two-state Hall sensor (0-1).
